The 24th of May saw Soofia English Medium School passing a strong message to the country as one of the strongholds in education at the National debate which was held in Maseru. The event was honoured by the presence of dignitaries and the thirty participants, who were drawn from 10 High Schools across the country. Najm us-Sahar, the same lady who brought her school a district trophy and won herself a trophy, school bag containing a wallet, purse, pencil case, LRA pen a moth ago, was the top winner as she was the most eloquent and coherent speaker. Her colleagues, Senate Marakabei and Nkekuli Leboela appeard in the seventh and eighth position respectively.Each of them were awarded a medal, certificate of participation and a shopping voucher worth M1000. Their coach, the great Leboea Rankaki was elected the best coach of the session and awarded a M1500 shopping voucher which he promised to hand over to his wife. At the debate session, Soofia English Medium was awarded a cheque worth M50 000.00 for the splendid performance it showed while the top debator, Najm us-Sahar went home with a lenovo laptop shipped with software, a school bag, a modem with M500 data and a trophy.The representative of schools’ principals at the same occasion passed her sincere thanks to the sponsors. She said debate is where learners get valuable information and tactics to apply in real life situations.
